Camp AZ 2018 - Green Heart
Camp location: Homestead Koole, Hogedijk 6, 2431 AA Noorden (near Nieuwkoop).
Homestead Koole lies beneath a dike round the Nieuwkoop lakes, typical for western Holland. In summer there is a lot of watertourism on the lakes, like canoeing, sailing, and stand up paddling. Specific parts of the lakes have a lot of birds and waterlilies, and are on the list of nature monuments. Noorden/Nieuwkoop is situated in the Green Heart of western Holland, the green area between some of the largest cities. With it's green meadows, canals and lakes, the area is known for its charming winding roads to bike around. You certainly will get a holiday feeling and insight in the nature of Holland during your stay with us.

Clothing advise: take a warm sweater and a raincoat with you, and swimming clothes. The weather in Holland changes a lot by the western winds from the Northsea. Be prepared for warm (max.30 degrees), but also for cold days (minimum 17 degrees). Bedlinen is provided for, but do take towels with you.:
Campprogramme :
Su 22 July - Transfer by Host families to arrive at campsite Kampeerboerderij Koole in Noorden before midday. Opening ceremony at 13.00 will be followed by getting to know one another, games.
Mo 23 July - Visiting the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam, plus a walking tour with guides of Amsterdam Underground. hearing a personal story about surviving on the streets.
Tu 24 July - The medieval castle of Muiden will be visited today. Also learning about and (of course) tasting of cheese from the Green Heart of the Netherlands .
We 25 July - What is it about the windmills in Aarlanderveen, you will find out during this excursion. The bus will take you afterwards to the Zegerplas lake in Alphen a/d Rijn for some active watersports.
Th 26 July - Utrecht is the destination, where the water bikes are waiting for you to paddle through the canals of Utrecht. The Dom tower is there to be climbed. Be amazed by splendid views over this quaint Dutch city, plus some shopping in this quant Dutch city.
Fr 27 July - The historic convent garden in Bodegraven will be the location for building a bamboo pyramid tower as a teamactivity.
Sa 28 July - Fun and games the old fashioned Dutch way (boerenspellen) and swimming at an open-air pool
Su 29 July - Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh’s second largest collection of paintings is at the Kroller Muller museum, located in the National Park Hoge Veluwe, which will be visited. A cycling opportunity through the woods on bikes from the White Bike plan, to spot some deer, mouflon or wild boar
Mo 30 July - An active start of the day at Lake Nieuwkoop Lakes, you will go canoeing. After lunch a boat tour with a nature guide to hear about the specifics of this splendid lake, its plants and living creatures.
Tu 31 July - Phew, a day of leisure, preparing for farewell party.
We 1 Aug - Day of goodbyes and departing for the airport of Schiphol for your travels home.
All activities are arranged by local Lionsclubs. Do show them your appreciation at the end of the activity
Country presentations: will be held in the evenings. Have a impression of your country with photo's ready on a USB stick when you leave for the Netherlands.
